Many of the things we are doing are just like gears and pedals on a bicycle. There’s a rhythm you have and then you come to a curve or hill and your cadence changes. So you shift gears and continue forward. The frame might need work, and we’ve done that here. We have a,so done upgrades, as some bikes need that too. And a bike fit, because the person on the machine needs to be in the best spot too. But after all of that capability is exposed, then we can really set forth some marvelous adventures.

Given the change of season and rising tensions, one could assume that some of what’s bugging us is more or less an allergy to a kind of living we’ve been longing for. And yet, everything isn’t as simple as “seasons change and so does strategies/tactics.” I think that’s why this weeks post Why Organizations Don’t Need More Strategy- They Need Structural Integrity needs to resonate a bit more. The calls to integrity means a different response than what we”d been posturing before. There’s a disconnect… but we can be better primed to meet the horizon’s potential if we care.

Playing with Claude a bit this week since Clawdbot/Moltbot was the rage. And you know something, the way I synthesize content, and the active associations made done really lend themselves to LLMs as Cowork, Moltbot, and others go. And that might be fine, but it def pokes back to a past decision to leave the linear, hierarchical ways behind for something else. I’m paying for and being paid for such a decision each week these reads are posted.

More than an MCP’s enablement, a different means of thinking and understanding flows thru these parts.

Jumping back into the Brilliant Labs Frame 👓 for a development context [we’ve] been on/off playing with (an adaptive sales assistant). Something am finding interesting is how its really gone from “build an app” to “build a web app” to “build a script to deploy via Noa” to now something more like “build a more expansive system, prompt.” Am half under the assumption that I’m firmly moving in the direction of what Halo/Noa+ proposes for connected glasses… and that isn’t bad. Just interesting to see this evolution.

Spent the day exploring how HUD glasses 👓 (without an LLM attached) might flow with things. The EverySight Maverick DE is such a solid hardware package. Would really be wonderful to see it integrated with a few other accessories and activity contexts. But that’s just the shape of things in the wearable space now isn’t it? Perhaps there’s something else beyond the lenses and layers to graft…

…In product development, everything is connected, and there are always tradeoffs and unintended consequences. Sometimes those tradeoffs are technical. Things can’t always be built because engineering decisions made long ago preclude certain new directions, or would lead to a lot of “tech debt,” which basically means a lot of stuff someone will inevitably have to go in and fix in order to do this new thing.

If only everyone understood what Leah Reich stated so delicately in this piece. Or, at least those who used then complained about built spaces.

Had a great convo with the current maintainer behind Muse this week. Amongst the insightful things shared, we talked a good bit about a gradient of software which ranges from meditative/contemplative on one end (where Muse is) to that which is more productivity and collaboration-oriented on the other. When people have said they have a hard time figuring out Muse, I argued they do because there’s very little contemplative software. There’s stuff for meditation. But, not software, spaces, or affordances in which the connections made through deep thinking is the outcome, not output.

The other week, posted a review of what has been an enjoyable and contemplative year. From the fractional executive work to the experiments to the incredible layers of reading, it has been an absolutely thick and enjoyable 2023. Platforms are looking to the Internet as something that is stable and mostly self sustaining. But, protocol is come and go. Factions come and go. Even though the underlying protocols may still be pretty similar to what got things started, there’s always something new on the horizon that makes us reconsider (even if for half a decade) What the present and the future looks like.

Only be attached to those things that leave an imprint. For everything else, it’s just meta-data that informs where you should be printing your breath and your energy.

Human-centered design is not something to add to a product or process. It is what’s realized by the persons who use the product or process — they experience the product or service as something designed for or against them (humane), or as something designed to manipulate their experience (not humane).

To design something for stakeholders and influential persons, but not for those who directly use or consume that product or process doesn’t mean it is not being human-centered, it means the focus is to a difference audience.

When you choose who or what you focus your outputs to, the outcomes that generates gets evaluated as to whether it is being human-centered (positively or negatively) or not.

Haven’t had the mental capacity to thematically arrange these, but the view from week to week and month to month is quite inspiring. From just a grouping, to sketched connector lines, to commentary on the links themselves, the view of what was read and considered has spatial depth that hard to put into a few words.

But, maybe that is also the point. Sharing not because you are a part of a distribution network, nor because anyone gains pennies from what has been linked to. This static expression of “this mattered enough to note in the last week” is a commentary on depth itself. And like the many “year end compilations,” this too follows a reflection of depth and recall.

The goal is to continue to share, continue to explore Muse as the canvas for this. And maybe, find other ways in which programmable ink might express what type cannot.

Around this time of the year, we revisit some of the research and experiments which have been a part of the ongoing development of Avanceé. Often talked to lightly, but frame a good bit of what becomes the insights and lessons shared with (incoming and potential) clients. The following is a small summary of some of these.

Hold-Over Experiments from 2021

The beginning of the year started looking at some of these experiments as a means to drum up some business. But as the year has gone on, some of these have either gone into a further hiatus, or become something else entirely.

Building A Secure Store/Wallet via McLear’s Omni NFC Ring

One of the longest projects. This one really hasn’t moved very much further. But it’s possible that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel here. Or at least there’s an inner change to which it can begin to accelerate for 2023. All I can say is, stay tuned.

Reshaping the Business Card with McLear’s NFC Ring

On the other hand, an older experiment came back and has been a pretty novel success. One of the things that it seems that was able to be galvanized with the release of lockdown measures has been closer communication. And the fist bump, or in this case, fist to phone, has proven to be a pretty neat instigator to conversations and subsequent business.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, and IFTS Domains

One would think that this area has been fairly quiet, into some extent that’s true. Most of the work around alternative currencies has been around research and understanding the space, not so much in terms of investing. However, there’s still a presence here as the building blocks that are being pulled apart right now seem to be building towards what some are using in machine, learning, and quantum technologies that are upcoming. So for here, we are just staying put for the moment.

Helm Personal Email Server

An absolutely marvelous idea. To be able to host your own email, files, etc. It’s a shame that the server is going down, well, the service that manages the gateway is. At the end of 2022, this will no longer be something actively worked on. But there is a Reddit for self-hosted tech; there’s a chance that something could pick up here.

Newly Started in 2022

New 2022 experiments (research) are a bit slower in pacing, but more deliberate in lessons.

ESOS Payment Ring

After many years of waiting and looking, finally found a payment ring available in the USA. For the most part, not disappointed. The ESOS Ring makes a lot of sense as a “carrying cash” kind of tech. Really would have liked to have finished some concepts that addressed the app. But, that, and using it, will have to wait until their next version - the Gulf of Mexico took my ring for a swim.

Sentien Audio

A big fan of what happens around audio interfaces, was excited to take delivery of Sentien Audio’s bone conduction headset. Though not as far in front of the market as it was when announced, one thing very much nailed has been the battery life. Officially now the “workday headset,” am enjoying the mix of quality felt with Apple’s AirPods Pro, but solid gestural control lessons from the Bragi Dash.

Muse for Teams

If you’ve been following for a while, the use of Muse is no surprise. This fall, got a chance to begin using a collaborative branch of Muse, called Muse for Teams, and it’s been an insightful look at how this application expands to collaboration between different types of people. The team I’m using this with has given lots to think about regarding this type of software. And overall, the shape of spatial interfaces might be one where augmented tooling has the best chance to positively improve the human connection with knowledge-based workflows.

Artificial/Augmented Intelligence and Machine Learning

Lots of different and interesting action happening here. Nothing specific to speak on yet in terms of tools. But, will state that it is increasingly difficult to see knowledge work that doesn’t include some competency with these methods, or architecting the tools which use them. In a very real sense, it will take folks who can think in focused manners to be able to grow with these methods and tools.

Micro.Blog versus Mastodon and Others As Twitter Replacement

And probably the most popular topic, #LeavingTwitter. There’s lots of people running here and other places for a Twitter replacement. And truly speaking, there’s viability with Mastodon, Post, Substack, Pateron, etc as options. That said, much like what had been done with Twitter, am taking a step backward and looking at things from the federated blogosphere. And from here, maybe something neat will be the next space(s) to relay-through

Probably better than the experiments was a means of sharing the reasons for these, and the ways I shape Avanceé, through an 80min chat with Sean Everett of Everette Advisors. Check out this chat for a bit more about some of the aforementioned experiments, and some hints to what’s next.

LinkedIn: Yes, it is difficult for many to see what has been prevented because of often putting out fires from what wasn’t prevented. Reaction being judged as more important than prevention. This puts some methods and innovations at a disadvantage from being recognized and adopted. The ability to prevent doesn’t (and shouldn’t) look like the ability to defend and/or react. Leadership who notices this and adjusts their perspectives accordingly have a better chance of being ahead of change, rather than expressing agility through traumas-formed-thru-change.

Of note, this week’s share of the Muse board comes from the upcoming Muse 2.0 release. One of the better apps/services in the tools for thought genre, Muse really sets itself apart by being less about collaborative synthesis and more towards personal synthesis (which might lead to later collaborative insights). The 2.0 release will feature a dedicated MacOS app, to go along with the existing iPadOS app. And will offer a syncing component, making your thought-space able to expand about as wide as the devices you use to ruminate.

Have been writing for a long time. And it seems as if every few years that writing shifts a paradigm or two. Before microblog, there was a series of these kind of post happening on Medium. Noticed a few new subscribers to the series called “Lessons from Mobile” and decided to go ahead and update it with some of the more forward thinking pieces posted here regarding going beyond “mobile devices and connectivity.”

This time last week, didn’t intend on writing another one of these composed link lists. But, it’s a behavior now associated with a slice of reflecting on the week. There’s a whole behavior forming — in part because of the fall/winter stealing light and warmer temperatures from cycling. A major part of this is now leveraging technologies which move slower yet further (an iPad Mini 5, an Apple Watch Series 3, Snap’s Spectacles or Vue glasses). There’s intentional envisioning, and occasional sketching. Yet it’s mostly for the purpose of enabling rivers to form elsewhere. And perhaps enabling the following week to tide into something more permanent, more sustaining. Notable reads have become an intentional space of walking thru the weeds found during the week.

This is actually a bit hard to pull together… go figure

Reflecting on the week, there’s a lot which can theme it. But, an overwhelming sense from others is a sense of tiredness and irritability. Perhaps due to the holiday now in full swing. Or, maybe the weight of the continuous news and notes, mostly sensationalist and negative unless one has deliberately tuned their dial differently. Maybe the choice to turn the dial differently is the theme here. And as such, reflecting on week’s notable reads is a chance to focus on something better.

Nothing on deck which was new. And maybe not for the rest of the year. If keeping to last year, the next steps are reflection. And so, let’s take care of that in the near future. Until then, enjoy this week’s share, and tune into new sounds, on purpose.

Was going to theme this around some design concepts, but it occurs that a better topic is that of silence. Or, more specifically, noise. Following the cadence of the week to respective reflections and insights is a case of taking noise and filtering out the unnecessary bits to hear something more pure than just another newsletter. This is hard for some. Energy levels, boundaries, expectations, and he weight of experiences are all their own bits of noise. And yet, those of us who still ourselves, and hear better what ways we sync with the world around us, tend to find the volume much lower of those unnecessary bits. The natural bits accent life not only nicely, it in ways which resonate to others.

Noise and silence as a theme for this week’s reads? Sure, why not.

Reading this weekend a few Kindle samples, and there’s one which has made enough of an impression to consider the full read. Specifically, Why Cities Look the Way They Do hits between the eyes of the consistent conversation about design and it’s value — for itself and for the things design behaviors communicate.

…Design responds to processes, such as the demands for housing, or for places for people to work, or for buildings that make attractive capital investments, to pick examples of typical urban processes… and design is often trying o ameliorate the effects of processes…

Such is part of what mediates the theme of this week’s notable reads. Design is communication, orchestration, and artistry. These reads are efforts to understand the frequency and friction at play.

Added an iPad Mini 5 & Pencil to the toolset recently and it’s actually made for much quieter sessions for evening and weekend computing. As a matter of fact, wasn’t until right before writing this post that even a social network was added to the Mini… intentionally putting the onus on the owner to define a different gravity to connectivity. Gravity causes this revisited constellation of devices and connectivity to orient yet another perspective or approach to addressing complexity. But, like any good constellation, it’s just a point in space to orient oneself. It isn’t the destination, or the road.

For one reason or another, felt like waiting until the end of the day to share what has been impactful in reading. Impact is noticed when it happens, but the ripples are what we really respond to. Sometimes those ripples are positive effects (wisdom, understanding, or realization of a kind of humility, etc.). Other times, those ripples are an indication there was actually something a bit more perilous on the horizon (the tidal wave after an earthquake for instance). The winter we ready for seems similar yet altogether different; it’s a winter of perhaps hibernating from the decisions of earlier. It’s a winter to feast on the works of the spring and early summer. Communicating clarity is not exactly easy. There’s the perspective we have, and then there is the perspective of others. We can expert for others to learn the way we do, or shape perspectives in a way which syncs with our worldview. However, this is an inappropriate expectation — what is valuable for them is what maintains their universe. Clarity should indeed transmit our perspective, but it should at its best empower them to see the best/worst of their universe. When we acknowledge this as a goal of clarity, their ability to exist isn’t just magnified, but ends up amplifying our existence also.

The distance between faith and worry… or what’s found in a proposal meeting’s questions. The two states really aren’t dissimilar, only difference being one feels internal to a person, and the latter to the organization. How does one navigate that distance? Yes, there’s some measure of playing to certainty. Yet there’s also the other parts of the fold — confirming through questions what you do well, what you don’t, and what you will need assistance in going forward towards. And once that distance has been traversed, in either direction, the knowledge of what can be performed can be more clearly understood and compensated by all interested parties.

Sitting down to write and on the window is an insect I’d not seen before. Not a spider, just six legs. And yet, I’m more intrigued at it, than it probably is at me. The closer I get to it, the more it takes steps to move away from my gaze. Even going as far towards moving into an upper corner of the window, to a place it’s likely under more danger from birds or even other insects. For all I know, the insect was here enjoying the background music and I simply disrupted its moment to gaze quietly. It didn’t expect to have my eyes its way, and defiantly not my motions. Such an analogy to not just this week’s notable reads, but also some of how we might be processing a connected life going forward.

Rest and recovery… or something like that. For one reason or another, you can’t seem to slow down until your body (or the organization you are a part of) seems to also take a rest. Aspects of today’s connected environment allow for a bit of this self-coaching. An emphasis on data, yes; but also an accountability to other professions who once used this data and interpretations as a special intelligence. What’s gained with rest is strength. What’s gained with recovery is endurance. Using the connected devices and services at your disposal should grant a level of knowledge/understanding you’d not had before. But, if you aren’t using them, you might as well be considered running on fumes.

Cycles… everything seems to happen in cycles. None of these are all that spectacular in and of themselves, but we seem to be offered a bit of surprise about new cycles when they happen. In the transition from one cycle to another, we find the nuts and bolts of what makes life happen. How we respond to that shift determines a bit on how we are going to exist within that next cycle. Yet, there’s also lessons from reflecting backwards. Those previous cycles offer a bit of insight worth keeping in pocket as well. Those cycles are not to be relived, but they are meant to be learned from.

Climate and weather are increasingly the points of topic in the northern hemisphere. Sure, part of it is due to the uncomfortable and unpredictable nature of weather. At the same time, the inability to control climate reminds us of our own fragility. The power of humanity (or maybe our intelligence) has certainly been in manipulating the environment such that we don’t seem to be as effected by our environment. And yet, we’ve learned to manipulate it because of the environment. Interdependency and augmentation have always gone hand in hand. Yet now, our ability to quickly communicate what has and hasn’t worked now presents a lot more of us with an earnest challenge: will we thrive because we are resistant to further change, or resilient because of it?

Uncharacteristicly quiet this week. Or, more like listening to what others are/aren’t doing in this space more intensly if there’s more to be said about it. The weekly long-form missed for paying attention to these trends has allowed some deeper thoughts about what it means to be forward. In one conversation, reflecting on the executive need for adding more time to the day meant looking again at what this effort is supposed to produce. In another, it has been about addressing some base tech skills so that data analytics and personal security aren’t missed as other efforts to move forward happen. That leads to similar endings at this point — links which have said things which matter. Beyond these, the conversation and effort continues to cut a different way forward.

Independence. Given the celebration of such for the USA, it’s helpful to stay on theme so to speak. And yet, so much about independence is really about ownership of agency. Ownership of owning not only your consequences, but also your pace. Ownership of your mobility, just as much as ownership of your quiet. Independence is about an active boundary — a means to establish what you know in order to discover what you are becoming. And yet, as we in the USA are figuring out, independence doesn’t end with a document. It isn’t concluded because a part of the group has it. It isn’t ownership of agency until all parties (those who want it and those being separated from it) can exercise their lives within it.

For such reasons, platforms like @microblog might be a better expression of independence than you might have figured. Where you have agency to be, then you can be all that you can imagine and more.

Late? Or elite? Part of the reason for things being later than usual, that is the posting of this weeks links, is because of a focus towards business development for a few new clients. One part of the work is trying to understand why they are not late in their respective industry, but why they are elite. Sometimes, timing works for us if we find a flow that is less dependent on whether or not people who could use our services — that is, we work in our flow and are found because we are distinctly not pushing against the grain. Simply becoming notable because your flow demonstrates that others are striving. From there, the work that you put in is what guarantees the business’ outcomes.

Persistence… for those to whom media has or hasn’t given them attention, there’s the swelling of persistence. For those engaging in environmental conversations, the addition of younger voices seems to validate their persistence. While the diminishing of data or resources invites a different type of persistence. Whether or not persistence is met with the intended desire, what’s been true about this week — and the links shared — is that persistence is just as much a tune for the age as any other.

Finding and synthesizing readings when the months slow down into heat of summer tends to be a little difficult. Not because there’s not as much value in what’s generated or shared, but because the connections become less apparent. The challenge isn’t challenging — however, there is no easy fit. Designing structures to understand associations is a bit of a kennel’s game — sure, you can put a wrapper around items, but that doesn’t mean it matters to more than the one doing the wrapping. The hope is that it does matter, and at the point when it does, connections manifest into opportunity.

Writing a forward for an upcoming book and was impressed to think about the contexts of love, lust, and loss. Sounds complicated and a bit obscure to ventures somewhat bracketed around technology and its changes. But, it makes good sense to think about how these tools and behaviors effect what is appreciated, gained, or denied because of those tools/behaviors. Perhaps these links which have stuck out from the past seven days knit around a similar theme for you as well. Or, maybe just one of those — love, lust, and loss — sticks out. Suffice to say, those things which are complex and magical do impress on us that reality.

There is a hashtag-day holiday almost every day it seems. Sometimes, these days seem nothing more than the commercialization of an ego. Othertimes, it seems to draw attention to the kinds of concerns which seem to fall swiftly under the covers of day-to-day life. Such is the weirdness of today’s #BikeToWorkDay — at least here in the auto-centric USA, this day has become something of a trumpet for those who enjoy cycling, but can’t seem to break from the constraints of needing to drive to work or dress/appear productive even when they want to ascribe to fit/affluence/etc. These days are kind of a world witihin our world; signaling some aspect of what we want to be, but also granting some freedom to explore what life could be along that hashtag-analogy.

Perhaps it is more about paying attention to what matters for most people. What matters are the smaller bits. The digestible bits. What effects me today? What is the friction I can respond to which affects me/my family? The wider view is a harder one. It means you either are forgetting what’s in front of your nose for what’s in front of your feet; or that you are fully taken care of in those more immediate cares, willing to look at the macro-view towards how it will effect you. Each week, looking back over what has been an influential read is something of a joy and a hurdle.

It’s a joy because there are connections made with particular items. There are insights, dissections, and connections which have made an impact at that very moment. Or maybe, it was an impact better felt when combined with something else read/created previously.

At the same time it’s a hurdle, because everything that you read is not necessarily meant to be taken in. Everything that falls into a feed is not meant to be consumed. The hurdle can be explained simply: is this important enough to come back to you later, or was it just a distraction for the thing you were supposed to be concentrating on?

With that kind of perspective, looking back over 6 to 7 days of notable reads takes on a different priority. It doesn’t mean that everything matters, it just means accepting the challenge of respecting the moment.

Paradigm shifts are interesting. Usually, we don’t recognize there has been a change until after the changes happened. But, there are a few people who live on the precipice of those changes. People who, for better or worse, have their senses already tuned to what the shift will be and can recognize those changes before, during, and after they actually happen. In some respects, this presents those people who recognize paradigm shifts as something of an anomaly. Change always happens, but those people who recognize paradigms and the conditions for change seem to have a different set of senses. A conclusion you can draw: seems like those people are the actual shift the paradigm is trying to get you to recognize.

Aims of some of our most recent work has reset some groups from Strategy-Implementation to Strategy-Focus. It is spring for more than just the trees and allergies (in the northern hemisphere at least). Mindful experience design draws you inside, whereas inspired experience design spreads to others. As mentioned earlier this week, wanted to get back to letting the notable links/reads of the week sit on this pattern. It’s not that sharing a daily links blog is not important. But, it makes more sense through curation when you can figure out what some of those things look like, and how it impacts an audience.

Today, the theme is contemplation and breathing. Taking into account that not everything that we breathe in can be understood immediately, nor that everything that we breathe out will be something that lingers. There’s space. In the midst of putting this together, got into a conversation about parents vs parenting. The approach of fostering whatever might come next seems like something wel-suited for those who are parents. And yet, if we were to listen to the news of the day, it would seem like everyone has the opportunity to get into parenting themselves and their communities into a better state of being. Where does being land? Not sure. Though the ownership of what it means for humane decisions going forward means for a wider approach to living forward.

It was almost written like a “poor me” metronome. That look back over the week which wasn’t as successful as hoped. Which wasn’t as ground-breaking as it could have been. This was almost written like that. And with barely a step back — technically, the backspace key — there’s something more about the week to be appreciated and respected. Not every step forward will work out. Sometimes, backspace is the key of life. There’s a measure of this journey fit for the few who travel it. Apparently, am on that track where it’s clear that more normative methods of work need not apply.

Had the thought a few times this week to move into a nearly daily cadence in sharing these. As far as can be noticed, there aren’t many who follow this side of things, so perhaps upping the cadence doesn’t really negate any of the effort. It does make the weekly trimming fall under a different banner. Perhaps that’s something to be played with. Others who do lists like these seem to gravitate towards some kind of thematic template; that’s certainly been the case with what’s been done here over the past year plus. Publicly wondering about tweaking that — not sure that it will add or remove value — not even sure that this format and sharing is all that valuable. There’s just a lot of noise out there.

Looking at one of the last snowfalls of the season out of the window, am reminded of there always being just a little bit more on deck than whatever might be planned or expected. In the project management space, we used to say something like, “whatever they give you as an estimate for the delivery, multiply it by 2.5. That’s your real number.” This often seems to be the case. We under/over-estimate at such a rate it is probably really more magical when our projects pan out exactly as stated. Perhaps, like this snowfall, the magic isn’t the accuracy of the prediction, but finding the magic in the spaces not so easy explained.

Fast and slow. A reminder of the cold of winter, the persistence of bias, and the surprise of ingenuity. These swings are merely the moments of life’s extremes, with life being defined by what comes in between those moments. Still, there’s an unrelenting desire for those extremes at times. Perhaps because in the extremes we might figure out what is best understood about the shades in between.

Philosophical? Perhaps. But, if your week were encased into a list of notable reads, what items would top that list? Would yours waffle between the extremes, or find the gradient measures and describe their tone?

Resonance…

That word spoke to what kept coming back towards this week. Not simply because resonance is both noun and past-action verb, but because there’s something about the way some pieces of work have rippled across the ether which seems to invite something more to the cannon than what’s been given at the surface.

“…”Resonance—there is no wisdom without it,” Birkerts writes. “Resonance is a natural phenomenon, the shadow of import alongside the body of fact, and it cannot flourish except in deep time.”

Perhaps the measure of doing these readings isn’t so much capturing time as it happened, but looking for the deeper indents to which time has been allowed to cultivate something better than simply knowing what’s happening. Perhaps, this is is what it means for this week’s theme of notable reads to be more than simply read:

Pattens can provoke actions. The provocation can seem as if it is elongating friction, or pointing to a diminishing influence of another mindset. The provocation can also alert to a shift which shouldn’t happen. Wrapping one’s head around all of this isn’t all that difficult unless you rely on the signals telling you what the patterns are doing. Signals follow the patters, they aren’t the patterns. Throughly enjoy those moments where there’s a cross-pollination of experiences and talents. There’s something about getting wind of a perspective outside of your focus which elevates the nuances you might not have considered before. And even more, when those nuances point to life and market opportunities otherwise hidden because of the sustained focus your endeavor might bring. Now, doing something with that cross-pollination — like creating new markets, or improving your own — this is the #futureofwork bit many talk about. However, it might not really be the future as much as it is what some have always done in order to find enjoyment in life and work.

The are times when it is suitable to be reminded that aspects of connected technologies do or dont’t move so fast. Am reminded of a closing from a smart cities keynote from a few years back where the challenge wasn’t simply to remind people of the capabilities of their companies, policies, or tools. It, was about remembering the onus of all of these vectors to improve the capacity of its performant to not remove themselves from what change should mean.

This feast of meaning brackets the items which stuck out from this week’s reads. The hope is that you also are empowered to internalize what’s most valuable, and then do the appropriate things after.

The way this part of the season has developed, one is supposed to take inventory of the year, admonish themselves for making it this far (in one piece), and reflect forward to the mostly positive outlook for the upcoming year. Perhaps the point of pausing all along wasn’t to reflect, but to give other pieces of our world a chance to find their rest and reset their rhythms. Perhaps the entrance of a new series of iPads is not a reason to be ancy about the potentials and downsides of various technologies. It has been something of a flashback in seeing how many have made their way over to MicroBlog. Sure, Twitter acting out has a lot to do with that, but there’s probably something a tick under the surface with a lot of social groups and social networks which grow over a particular size or gain some kind of celebrity/global affluence. There’s always someone and something mining a path just a bit differently… until others also figure out the new road and make it their own also.

Happy GDPR Day!

Ok, maybe that’s not the best way to open the week’s link share. Yet, there’s something to be said about the sites who don’t have much in the way of the notices about privacy policies and data governance which drive more about the consumer internet than much else. Its good to have a few sites where sharing info out, doesn’t mean you are sharing info into an abyss of little control. That is the point of sharing right?

The backend of Spring has hit a number of places and industries differently. Would be the easy excuse to say that the usual posting scheme was disrupted because of the work on deck, but that’s not exactly the case. I think an earlier thought about being intuitive on purpose might be a truer characterization of Avanceé than many other turns of phrase so far. And yet, even that thought didn’t come out of nowhere - it was generated through a series of work, digesting thoughts from elsewhere, and the resulting actions from them.
